Program Overview

The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) will admit up to three Penn State Brandywine students per year to its doctor of osteopathic medicine program through a traditional 4+4 academic program (four years at Penn State Brandywine and four years at PCOM).

Students must have completed all requirements for the bachelor of science degree. They will enter PCOM following the successful completion of their program at Penn State Brandywine and will receive their doctor of osteopathic medicine degree upon the successful completion of four years of medical school education at PCOM.

Academic Requirements

Students must indicate their intent to apply for enrollment during their sophomore year at Penn State Brandywine. They will work with a specific pre-med/science academic adviser at Brandywine to ensure they satisfy eligibility requirements.

PCOM will consider applicants that meet the following criteria:

  • Complete the undergraduate course requirements as listed in PCOM’s catalog.

  • Earn a minimum 3.25 cumulative and science cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) through the end of the junior year.

  • Complete the MCAT no later than fall of the senior year, with a minimum composite score of 504 with at least 126 on each section.

  • Submit the application to PCOM through AACOMAS no later than Oct. 31 of the senior year and the PCOM Supplemental Application (with fee) no later than Nov. 30 of the senior year.

Career Opportunities

PCOM graduates are accepted into a variety of residencies — both osteopathic and allopathic. Many choose primary care specialties including general practice, general internal medicine, OB/ GYN and pediatrics. Recent graduates also entered residency specialties that include:

Accreditation

The doctor of osteopathic medicine programs at PCOM are accredited by the Commission of Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association.
